read-it-later.com New User Tour
The first thing you need to do in order to make your life easier is to grab our bookmarklet. You do this by clicking on the link in the blue box below and dragging it into your browser's Bookmarks Toolbar.
You will use this bookmarklet to save web pages into the system. It works like this:
- When your browser is currently on a page that you would to read later
- Click on the bookmarklet
- Your browser will be automatically taken to the read-it-later.com 'Add Links' page, with the page's URL and title filled in for you
- You will then need to pick a category for this link, we'll talk about categories in depth on the next page
- Click the 'Add Link' button and you're done. You can now be assured that you will eventually read this page and can get on about the rest of your day.
Some things to consider:
- Feel free to rename the bookmarklet to whatever you like ( read-it-later, Read Later, etc. ).
- You'll want to ensure the bookmarklet it is within easy reach and not
buried inside of several folders. Most people just put it into the main
bookmark area just below where you type in URLs. Here is what it might look like in Firefox:
- Along with the 'Add Link' button, there is an 'Add Link and return to site' option which will add your link into read-it-later.com and then return to the page you just added. This is useful if you wish to continue following any links on that site.
